Joan Leazer

Knoxville —  

Joan Ilene Leazer, 89, of Knoxville and formerly of Fremont, died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012, at West Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center in Knoxville. She was born Tuesday, Oct. 2, 1923, at Rose Hill, Iowa, the daughter of Irvin and Hilda Hedge Prather. She graduated from the Fremont High School with the class of 1941. 
 
On Nov. 11, 1945, Joan was united in marriage to Keith Leazer in Oskaloosa and Keith died Sept. 3, 1996. While Keith was in the service they lived in Great Falls, Montana. In 1946, following Keith’s discharge, they returned to Fremont. 
In 1956, they moved back to Great Falls, Montana, and lived there until 1978 when they moved to Deming, N. M. While living in Great Falls, Joan worked as a nurse’s aid. Joan was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church.
 
Her family includes three grandchildren: Kevin Gordon and Darcy Lemus both of Tacoma, Wash.,  and Alicia Miekosz of San Diego, Calif.; four great grandsons; a brother: Willard (& Susan) Prather of Knoxville; and many cousins, nieces, nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and a daughter: Carol Gordon.
 
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at 2 p.m., at the Fremont United Methodist Church in Fremont with Reverend Ron Bupp officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Great Falls, Montana at a later date. As was her wish her body has been cremated. Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be made to the Fremont United Methodist Church.
