---- — Darlene Mae (Borchert) Whitlatch was born on April 20, 1930, in Germantown, Iowa, the daughter of Noah and Katie (Willis) Borchert. She graduated from Melcher High School in 1948. She was married to Kelly Agan, and to this union two children were born, Arnold and Karen. Darlene was united in marriage to Richard Whitlatch on July 27, 1969, at the Olive Chapel Church. She lived in the rural Knoxville area most of her life, as well as Chariton, and the last six years in Pleasantville. She was a wonderful cook, working in the kitchen at the Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas Schools, the Knoxville Hospital and the Knoxville and Melcher-Dallas Senior Centers.
Darlene Whitlatch passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Pleasant Care Living Center in Pleasantville at the age of 83 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Duane Borchert; sister-in-law, Norma Borchert; and great grandson, Blake Wynn.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Arnold (Linda) Agan and Karen (Rev. Cliff) Jones; step-sons, Jon (Darla) Whitlatch and Joe Whitlatch; brother, Ancil (Carol) Borchert; grandchildren, Dave Agan, Angela (Ted) Claney, Anita Jones, Brooke Miles and Curtis Jones; step-grandchildren, Scott (Candice) Whitlatch and Jarad Whitlatch; great-grandchildren, Austin, Jack Will, Robbie, Noah and Caylah; step-great grandchild, Peyton; and many other relatives and friends.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial followed in Olive Chapel Cemetery in rural Attica.
