Richard "Rick" Allen Collins

Richard “Rick” Allen Collins was born on March 19, 1958. in Geneva, N.Y., the son of Robert and Mary (Crupi) Collins. He grew up in Gevenva and graduated from Geneva High School. Rick lived all around the United States before settling in Iowa in 1987. He drove trucks for many years before opening his own business, Collins Appliance, in Knoxville. Rick went back to school at Indian Hills Community College, graduating in 1994, making the Dean’s List with a 4.0 grade average. He was united in marriage on March 22, 1996, in Knoxville to Rhonda Cornelison.

Rick was an avid racing fan, cheering for Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Sr., and a fan of the Buffalo Bills. He was also a collector of eagle statues. He loved his family and enjoyed time with his kids and grandkids. He was very happy to have been recently reunited with his daughter after 22 years apart.

Rick passed away on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 16, 2013, at his home at the age of 55 years after a long battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; Grandma and Grandpa Collins and Grandma and Grandpa Crupi.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Rhonda; children, Krystal (Josh Armstrong) Collins of Knoxville, Scott Collins of Knoxville and Jennifer (David) Cartwright of Cadiz, Ky.; grandchildren, Brianna Barber, Chandler Hegwood and Abigale Hegwood; father, Robert Collins; siblings, Donna Rose of Cohocton, N.Y., Bruce (Annie) Collins of Germany, Bobby (Jennifer) Collins of Marietta, Ohio, Al (Karen) Collins of Las Vegas, Nev., Tim (Emily) Collins of Waterloo, N.Y., and Debbie Woodworth of Goodrich, Mich., and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 10:30 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery in Knoxville. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning and continue until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
