Alfretta Louise Jackson-Stephenson

Alfretta Louise Jackson-Stephenson, 82, of Lake Charles, La., formally from Knoxville, went to Heaven on May 30, 2014. She was born Jan. 11, 1932, to Lester Lee and Katherine Lucille (King) Jackson. She married the late Paul Stephenson in 1975.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Lucille Jackson and her brother, Bobby Jackson of Derby, Iowa.

She graduated from nursing school and worked at the Veterans’ Hospital in Knoxville. She enjoyed doing crafts, playing the organ and she and Paul enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her son, Ed Poole and wife Donna of Lake Charles, La.; her brother Richard Jackson and wife Corrine of Derby, Iowa; step daughter, Kathy Ewing; nieces Julie Page and husband Gene; Cherie Cerveny and husband Jason; her nephew, Tony Jackson and wife Lori. Granddaughters Christina Mitchell and Melissa Klett and her grandsons, Joel DeJoode and the late Mark DeJoode.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Emeritus of Lake Charles and Southern Hospice of Lake Charles for their support in her final days. A special thanks to Belinda Thibodeaux for your loving care you gave our mom in her final days.

Services were held Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Humeston Cemetery with Pastor Dennis St. Lawrence officiating. Bearers were Richard, Tony, and Caelen Jackson, Gene Page, Jason Cerveny, and Edward Poole. Arrangements were under the direction of Fielding Funeral Home located in Chariton.
