Mildred Roberts

Funeral services for Mildred Roberts, of Knoxville, were held on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home with Pastor Kirk Dudley officiating. Burial followed in the Graceland Cemetery. Gary and Gwen Miller, vocalists, shared “One Day at a Time” and “Precious Memories”. Casket bearers included Darryl Helmers, Ron Goemaat, Don Hunt, Dick Dishman, Bill Ver Steeg, Bill Kecy and Stu Job.

Mildred Genevieve Roberts was born on Jan. 12, 1918, in Marion County, the daughter of William Bruere and Martha (Dekker) Bruere.

She grew up in Warren County, attending school in Beech. Mildred was united in marriage to Verne Roberts on April 29, 1972. Mildred worked at the Clothes Closet and for the Reminder for a number of years. She was a member of the Fireman’s Auxiliary and the Christian Church. Mildred was always ready to give a helping hand whenever it was needed. She dearly loved her family, the country, raising flowers and was very patriotic.

Mildred passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Knoxville Hospital at the age of 95 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Verne and her 2 brothers, Elmer and Dean Bruere.

Mildred is survived by her nieces, Sue (Bruce) Sinnard of La Grange Park, Ill., Janet (Clark) Schuler of Indianola; nephew, Bill (Kathy) Bruere of Prole; sister-in-law, Bonnie Moyer of Indianola, along with many extended family and friends.
