Beulah Jane Dieken

Bea (Beulah) Jane Dieken, age 83, passed away April 23, 2014, at Westridge Nursing Center. Bea was born on May 3, 1930, in Wayne, Neb., to William and Emma Vahlkamp. She was the oldest of three children.

Her marriage to Harold Dieken produced seven children. They moved to Knoxville in 1957. Bea worked many jobs throughout her life and retired from 3M after 17 years.

She enjoyed gardening and bowling. She was an avid knitter all of her life. Many elementary children benefitted from her handmade mittens.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, her two sons, Jon and Bob (Robert), one grandchild and one great-grandchild. She is survived by her brother, Gene Vahlkamp (Mary Lee) of Arlington, Va., and her sister, Faye Konepik from Oak Harbor, Wash. Also left to remember her are her children Gail (Don) Murphy of Knoxville, Lois (Jerry) Orchard of Salina, Kan., Mary (Harold) Hauenstein of Bussey, Carol (Marty) Hoffman of Twin Falls, Idaho, Paul Dieken of Port St. Lucie, Fla. There are 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren to fondly remember her.

Bea wished to be cremated with a private internment at a later date. Memorials to honor her memory may be sent to HCI Care Services, 213 East Main, Number 103, Knoxville, IA, 50138.
