Mark "Max" Maxfield

Mark “Max” Maxfield, 49, of Melcher-Dallas passed away Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Max was born on Oct. 10, 1964, to Delbert and Adda (Beaty) Maxfield. He received his education from Des Moines Tech, in 1983. Max was married to Amy Everhart on March 2, 1985, in Des Moines. They raised their three children in Melcher-Dallas.

Max was employed at Goodwin-Tucker as a Certified Appliance Tech for 10 years. His coworkers will remember his good-natured teasing and the pranks he played on them. Max was a caring person that would help without asking. He was also a tinkerer, helping family and friends to fix their cars, appliances and anything else they needed. He spent time with his family, fixing cars in his garage, watching Iowa State Cyclone football games and traveling. At home, he spent time chatting with his blue/gold macaw, Kenobi. Max was a huge supporter of the Music Booster Club at the Melcher-Dallas High School.

Survivors include his wife Amy of Melcher-Dallas, three children: Kelsey Maxfield of Melcher-Dallas, Cpl. Matthew Maxfield of Camp Pendleton, Calif., Emily Maxfield of Melcher-Dallas, mother, Adda Maxfield of Des Moines and a half sister, Mary Sledge of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his father Delbert, infant sisters, Lyn Renee Maxfield and step siblings, John and Ann.

A Funeral Service was held Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at New Hope United Methodist Church in Melcher-Dallas with Pastor Jeff Flagg officiating. Memorials may be given to the Music Boosters at Melcher-Dallas High School.
