Frances Momyer

Frances Rita Momyer, age 98, of Knoxville passed away Wednesday evening, April 30, 2014, at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Frances was born May 20, 1915 in Holbrook, Iowa and grew up in Parnell, Iowa. Frances was the daughter of Patrick and Laura (Noone) Furlong. After graduating from Mercy College of Nursing in Cedar Rapids, she moved to Knoxville to work as a registered nurse at the VA Hospital. She worked at the VA Hospital until her retirement.

Frances belonged to the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and a 75-year charter member of Beta Sigma Phi.

Frances and Robert Momyer were united in marriage until his death in 2010. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son in infancy and her son, John Momyer; her son-in-law, Ron Frazier; and two sisters.

Frances is survived by her sons, Dennis Momyer of Honolulu, Hawaii, Bill (Kathy) Momyer of Auburn, Wash.; daughters Molly (Steve) Fausch of Ankeny and Rosemary Frazier of Knoxville; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held Monday, May 5, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Knoxville. Burial followed services at Graceland Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in Fran’s name to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Condolences may be sent to www.winfieldfh.com. The Winfield Funeral Home of Knoxville is helping Frances’ family with arrangements.
