Memorial services for Steven Ray Collins, of Pleasantville and formerly Knoxville, were held on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at the Mason Funeral Home with Danielle Bertrand, Celebrant. Burial followed in the Swan Cemetery. “Free Bird” and “Grandpa Told Me So” were shared.
Steven Ray Collins was born on Dec. 9, 1953, in Knoxville, the son of Raymond M. Collins and Patty (Welshhons) Collins.
He grew up and attended school in Pleasantville. Steve loved farming and worked for many years for Chrisman Farms. In his spare time, Steve enjoyed fishing, camping, riding horses and hunting for mushrooms or deer. He also loved every minute spent with his grandchildren doing whatever they wanted to do.
Steve passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, at the Pleasant Care Living Center at the age of 59 years.
He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents, Claira and Ross Welshhons; grandmother, Janey Collins; grandfather, George Irl “G.I.” and a brother, David.
He is survived by his children: Allen (Josie) Collins of Attica, Pam (Neal) Brockbank of Ulysses, Kan., Michelle (Wayne) Simmons of Tulsa, Okla., Junior (Michalene) Sayre of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren; mother, Patty Collins of Pleasantville; siblings, Ronnie Collins and Creta Garrison of Knoxville along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
