Funeral services for Darlene Loynachan, of Knoxville, were held on Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at the Celebrate Community Church with Pastors Leo and Carol Freel and Rev. Jeff Flagg, officiating.  Burial followed in the Greenwood Cemetery.  Musical selections of; “How Great Thou Art”, “Bless the Broken Road,”  “It is Well with My Soul” and “Goin’ Away Party” were shared.  Karen Laws played the piano with Frank Gerden as a vocalist.  Casket bearers included Jason Cushman, Jimmy Clark, Allen Smith, Tim Bosch, Frank Gerden and Charles Smith.  Honorary casket bearers were Christian Medley, Adam Staton, Josh Staton and Neil Staton.

Darlene Angela Loynachan was born Jan. 10, 1963, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Bill and Hessie (Dorton) Payne.

Darlene was raised in Chicago until her family moved to Ottumwa in 1970.  She graduated from Ottumwa High School and later attended Indian Hills Community College, in Ottumwa, where she earned an R.N. Degree.  Throughout the years, Darlene had worked as a dog-catcher, a nurse aid, and worked for an agency that helped disabled children stay at home.  She had also worked at the Knoxville and Pella hospitals and for the last 3 ½ years she has worked for HCI Care Services.  Darlene was a tireless worker and found great joy in helping others.

On July 21, 2005, Darlene was united in marriage to Ken Loynachan on their farm, east of Knoxville.  The couple enjoyed being outdoors, tractor rides or the simple and beautiful moments with each other and their family.  Darlene also enjoyed gathering wildflowers and could often be heard singing a favorite tune.

She passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at her home at the age of 49 years.

Darlene was preceded in death by her brother, William and her mother, Hessie.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Ken; children:  Sara (Jimmy) Clark of Pella, Neil (Shantina) Staton of Knoxville and Adam (Amber) Staton of Knoxville; step-children:  Erin Loynachan Bosch (Tim) of Pella and Kristi Loynachan (fiancé Jason Cushman) of Knoxville; 11 grandchildren, her father Bill Payne of Ottumwa and many other family members and friends.
