Harriett Carson

Austin, Texas —

Harriett Sue Pohl Carson, 63, passed away on June 24, 2013, in Austin, Texas, with her two daughters at her side. She was born in Knoxville on Oct. 19, 1949, to David Harry and Mary Adaline (Hollingshead) Pohl.  She attended school in Knoxville and graduated from Big Spring, Texas High School in 1968. Sue graduated from McMurry College with a Bachelor's degree. She moved to San Marcos in the late 70's to purse her interest in photography and took courses at Southwest Texas State University.

She married John Douglas Carson on Feb. 4, 1984 and they made their home in San Marcos.  They were the parents of two daughters, Amanda Sue and Jennifer Rose. Their family attended First United Methodist Church in San Marcos.

Both Sue's professional and personal career centered around her passion for caring for and helping others.  From work in the medical field, motherhood, volunteerism in her church and care-giving for those less capable than she, Sue selflessly gave of herself to others in all aspects of her life. Her adventurous spirit and contagious laughter brought happiness to those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Doug.
She is survived by her daughters Amanda Sue Ramirez (John Moses) and Jennifer Rose Carson of San Marcos, her granddaughter Madison Grace Ramirez, her sisters Rev. Martha Bennett and Sara Simonds and brother, David Pohl. She is also survived by her father and mother-in-law, a brother-in-law, a sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
