Robert Ayres Weist was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Seymour, the son of Roy and Orpha (Van Dorn) Weist.
He graduated from Seymour High School with the Class of 1949. Bob worked for the railroad for a few years and then started trucking for his father. He later took a job driving for Central Construction. On Aug. 16, 1958, Bob was united in marriage to Carla King in Centerville. During the late 1960s Bob was working on the Red Rock Dam, when he and Carla decided to move to Knoxville. Following the lake project, Bob went to work for Ben Shinn Trucking. He retired in the late 1990s.
In his spare time, Bob enjoyed sprint car racing, and worked security at the races for a few years. He also enjoyed watching sports, but his greatest joy was his family, especially the grandchildren.
Bob passed away on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 81 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wanda Ross.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Carla; daughters: Tara (Ray) Kraber of Wellington, Fla., and Amanda (Austin) Kingrey of Knoxville; three grandsons: Benjamin Kraber, Trenten Kingrey and Briar Kingrey; brother, Ronald (Inez) Weist of Vienna, Va., and many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
