Martha Mae Jenkins

Martha Mae Jenkins was born Aug. 24, 1930, in Knoxville, the daughter of Garret John Onstank and Dorothy Margaret (Clark) Onstank.

She was raised in Knoxville and graduated with the Knoxville high School Class of 1948. On Sept. 21, 1958, Martha was united in marriage to Frank Jenkins in Knoxville. Through the years, Martha had worked for Iowa Power & Light, Marion County Savings & Loan and DeVore Motors, from which she retired. In her spare time, she enjoyed horse shows, the Iowa Hawkeyes and watching basketball. In fact, she liked sports of all kinds and was a previous recipient of the Melcher-Dallas Fan of the Year award.

Martha passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at the Pella Regional Health Center at the age of 83 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Virginia Onstank.

Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Frank of Knoxville; children: Julie (Jim) Jones of Lovilia and Jeff (Tammy) Jenkins of Knoxville; grandchildren, Colby and Colton Jones; twin sister, Maude (Bill) Roff of Knoxville and many other family members and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Bybee & Davis Funeral Home on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, with

Pastor Brent Hanna officiating. Burial followed in the Graceland Cemetery Music was provided by Madonna Milburn, vocalist and Geoff Shultz, pianist. The selections were “How Great Thou Art” “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”. Casket bearers were Dennis Haselhuhn, Mike Crozier, Chuck Boden, Max Smith, Kevin Smith and Doug Bauer. Honorary Casket Bearers were Colby Jones and Colton Jones. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to Knoxville Booster Club for the P.A. System at Ken Locke Stadium.
