---- — Funeral services for Harriet Wagner, of Pleasantville, were held on Thursday, May 9, 2013, at the Pleasantville Christian Church with Pastor Donna Murphy-Ceradsky officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasantville Cemetery. Musical selections of “Sissy’s Song”, “Don’t Cry for Me” and “In the Arms of an Angel” were played along with “In the Garden” by Midge Brooks, organist and Zada Burrell, vocalist. Casket bearers were Steve Bacon, Jimmy Bacon, Billy Bacon, Nathan Bacon, John Bacon, Danny Bacon, Ron Bacon and Tom Horsman.
Harriet Jo Wagner was born on Oct. 1, 1938, in Pleasantville, the daughter of Harold Horsman and Opal (Thornburg) Horsman.
She grew up in Pleasantville, graduating from the Pleasantville High School. On Oct. 19, 1957, Harriet was united in marriage to Earl Wagner in the Pleasantville Christian Church. The two made their home in Pleasantville where Harriet was the secretary and book keeper for Wagner Plumbing & Heating until 2004 when they retired.
Harriet was a member of the Pleasantville Christian Church and was on the committee for the Helen Loynachan Scholarship Fund for several years. She enjoyed going to the races to watch Earl, mushroom hunting, bowling, watching the grandchildren’s softball and baseball games and spending time with her family and friends.
Harriet passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 74 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Earl.
Harriet is survived by her children: Diane (Russell) Farr of Greenville, S.C., Debby (Mark) McCaughey of Des Moines, Jeff Wagner of Pleasantville; five grandchildren; brother, Kenny (Lynn) Horsman of Pleasantville, along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
