Irvin Birkenholz


Corydon — Memorial services for Irvin Birkenholz, of Corydon and formerly Knoxville, were held on Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at the Harvey Assembly of God Church with Rev. Mike Miller officiating.

Irvin Lee Birkenholz was born Oct. 26, 1936, in Knoxville, the son of George and Sylvia (Briggs) Birkenholz.

As a young man, Irvin worked in a feed operation.  On March 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Gay Morton.  The couple lived in Red Rock and later in Knoxville.  Irvin was a welder and fabricator most of his life.  He worked for Parson’s and later had his own shop in Lovilia.  In his spare time, Irvin was a h.a.m. radio operator, collected coins and enjoyed playing bingo.

Irvin passed away on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the Corydon Nursing & Rehab Center at the age of 76 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

He is survived by his son, Russell of Chariton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild and many other family members and friends.
