Heartsill named "Friend of Agriculture"

Heartsill for Iowa

Columbia —

Greg Heartsill of rural Columbia has been designated a “Friend of Agriculture” by the Iowa Farm Bureau Political Action Committee (PAC).  Heartsill is seeking the seat for House District 28 which includes most of Marion County, the southeast corner of Jasper County and the eastern half of Lucas County.

“Having been involved with agriculture for the majority of my life and running a small business that is heavily dependent upon the success of the ag economy, I am greatly honored to receive this designation from the Iowa Farm Bureau PAC,” Heartsill said in response to his latest endorsement.

The grassroots effort to designate Friends of Agriculture is guided by members and began in July when county committees evaluated candidates.  An unprecedented 98 County Farm Bureau Committees submitted candidate evaluations this year.  Rod Collins, IFBF PAC Committee Chair and a farmer from Dallas County stated, “We looked objectively at each race and how candidates stood on Farm Bureau policy.”  The nine-member PAC committee carefully reviewed those evaluations, while also considering candidates positions on issues of importance to members, leadership on Farm Bureau priorities, and past voting records.

“Our organization takes these designations very seriously, and carefully considers each race,” said Collins.  “It’s very important that our designations are guided by statewide grassroots input and how each candidate’s voting record and positions line up with Farm Bureau policy.  As we move forward, it will be important for all of us to work to get the Friends of Agriculture elected,” he said.  “We need to stand behind candidates who are aligned with our policy.”
