School Board meets tonight

Knoxville — The Knoxville School Board will meet tonight (Monday, April 22, at 5:30 p.m., in the high school library, 1811 West Marion.

On the board's agenda is a presentation from FCCLA, a group who won the right to represent Iowa at a national event this summer. Also on tonight's agenda is the athletics financial report. This is a quarterly report prepared by Business Manager Craig Mobley.

Revenues for high school boys' athletics year to date total $40,430.85, while expenses totaled $35,104.05. Middle School girls' athletics have $3,393.55 in revenue and $3,370.83 in expenses. These are the only two sports categories which have greater revenue than expenses. Overall, expenses for athletics have totaled $78,233.57 while revenue is at $73,060.20.

Also on the board's agenda is an agreement for sports medication services. Activities Director Randy Wilson is recommending the board approve an agreement with 21st Century Rehab, the new physical therapy organization at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics.

Scott Evans' new organization, Heritage Wellness Center, is also interested in providing this service. The annual fee for 21st Century Rehab is $1,500, while documents provided to the school board indicate that Heritage will charge no fees.  Wilson thanked Evans in his note to the board for the services he has provided to the district over the years.

The board also intends to hold a closed session regarding a student issue, then take a tour of the Knoxville Performing Arts Center, as construction progresses.
