Knoxville — Knoxville Coaches vs. Cancer organizer Jim Uitermarkt has shared a schedule for tomorrow's (Saturday, Jan. 25) events. The schedule is as follows:
8:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Silent Auction Open
9 a.m.-Five-on-five women's alumni basketball game
10 a.m.-Six-on-six women's alumni basketball game
11 a.m.-Five-on-five women's alumni basketball game
Noon-Men's alumni game
1 p.m.-Men's alumni game
2 p.m.-Men's alumni game
3 p.m.-Men's alumni game (The first three will be competitive, this one will be just for fun.)
From 2:30 p.m. on, Steve Coon will be serving a meal at KHS.
6 p.m.-Varsity girls' basketball game. Northstar students will sing the national anthem. Mikayla Becker will perform a dance solo for halftime entertainment. Five shooting contests will take place. Raffle tickets will be drawn to participate.
Between games, at approximately 7:30 p.m., all four teams (Knoxville boys and girls, Chariton boys and girls) will encircle the floor. The American Cancer Society will present an award. Checks will be presented from the bowling and swimming events, as well as one from Pat Kading.
A cancer survivor ceremony will take place, which will include speech excerpts from famous cancer victim, Coach Jim Valvano. Cancer survivors Melinda Moore and Deb Ellerman will be honored and all cancer survivors in attendance will be asked to stand and be recognized.
The boys' game is expected to tip of around 8 p.m. There will be a 46-second challenge in the crowd, during which girls' basketball players will circulate buckets to collect cash donations. Halftime entertainment of the boys' game will be a dance solo by Paige Spowart. There will be five shooting contests and a raffle ticket will be drawn for a donated quilt.
