Knoxville — Good Shepherd Lutheran Church has donated $888 each to Knoxville's Backpack Buddies Program and to New Covenant Church's End of Month Meals.

Funds for the donations were raised during Good Shepherd's eighth annual Bazaar and Cookie Walk, held Dec. 7, 2013. The totals donated to each of these represents half of the proceeds from the event. The other half will be used to support youth missions for Good Shepherd.

Backpack Buddies is a joint program between Knoxville Hospital and Clinics and Knoxville Schools, to provide food to children in need over the weekend, when they are unable to take part in a school nutrition program.

End of Month Meals provides meals to local families each night of the last week of every month of winter, through March, with no questions asked.
