Pleasantville — Cast and crew of the Pleasantville High School fall production of “Suite Surrender” spent their long weekend putting the finishing touches on their performance, as well as the set.
The play, directed by Laura Oliver, will be performed Friday, Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m., and again on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Saturday performance will be a dinner theater, with the pork loin meal being served at 6 p.m. and the show following.
“Suite Surrender” is a farce, set in 1942, in which two divas who hate each other, scheduled to perform at a war benefit, are accidentally booked into the same room. Characters try to keep them apart, but there is a confrontation. Oliver promises slamming doors and a lot of fun.
“It will be very entertaining,” Oliver said. She complimented her cast as being dedicated and dependable. All of them are excited to put on the show. Watching the teamwork everyone involved has demonstrated, on the Drama Department's biggest event of the year, has also been rewarding.
Leading the cast as the divas are Amanda Moore and Hayley Rankin. This year, Oliver has enlisted understudies for the first time. The understudies have rarely missed a rehearsal since they began in September.
“We'll find a way to get them on stage,” Oliver said.
Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. The dinner theater tickets cost $12 and a reservation is necessary. To reserve your tickets for Saturday's dinner theater, call 515-848-0555.
