Knoxville will host a Class 3A District Wrestling Tournament Saturday starting at noon.

Wrestlers who hope to extend the season past Saturday must finish among the top two at their respective weight class to advance to the state meet in Des Moines next week.

S.E. Polk and Ankeny a pair of top 10 ranked teams in Class 3A will be at the Knoxville 3A District Meet Saturday.

The S.E. Polk Rams are the No. 1 ranked team in Class 3A. Several of the wrestlers on the team are planning on wrestling at the collegiate level, and have already received Division-1 scholarship offers.

The Ankeny Hawks are the No. 7 ranked team in Class 3A.

Other teams competing at the 3A District in Knoxville Saturday include, Knoxville, Pella, Des Moines East, Indianola, Newton and Norwalk along with S.E. Polk and Ankeny.

Any wrestling fan who wants to find some quality competition on the mat prior to the state meet should come early to the Knoxville gymnasium for a day filled with great action.

The traditional state wrestling tournament will start Thursday in Des Moines at Wells Fargo Arena.

Class 3A first round action will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until 12:15 p.m.

The Class 2A first round is Thursday from 2 p.m. until 5:15 p.m.

The Class 1A wrestlers hit the mat Thursday from 7 p.m. until 10:15 p.m.

The state meet continues Friday and will conclude witht he finals Saturday evening.
