Nationals Fan Fair Schedule

Knoxville — The Wednesday, August 12, portion of the four-day Knoxville Nationals Fan Fair at the National Sprint Car Museum is coming together well, with salutes to ‘Kenny Gritz & the 1969 Knoxville Nationals’, sprint car racing photographers, and the ‘World of Outlaws’ (WoO) highlighting the day’s schedule.  According to curator Tom Schmeh this week, “One day after saluting Mario Andretti’s 1969 Indianapolis 500 win with the debut of Donny Schatz’ new STP paint scheme here at the museum, John Katich and Bob Mays will be interviewing guests with great memories of Kenny Gritz’ win in the 1969 Knoxville Nationals.  And Scott Watson and Johnny Gibson have done equally great jobs of preparing for their forums honoring photographers and the 31-year-old WoO national series, respectively.”


The schedule for the fourth annual Knoxville Nationals Fan Fair, to be held in the first floor, east wing, of the Donald Lamberti National Sprint Car Museum is as follows:


Wednesday, August 12:


11 a.m. –  “Forty Years Ago:  1969 Knoxville Nationals” with hosts John Katich

 & Bob Mays; with special guests Ray Lee Goodwin, “Tiger Bob” Williams, Bob Trostle, Earl Wagner, Eddie Leavitt (Jr.), the family and crew of Kenny Gritz, and more


1 p.m. – “Tips from the Shooters” with host Scott Watson; with photographers Mike Arthur, Tim Aylwin, Dave Hill, Dennis Krieger, Gordy O'Field, and more


3 p.m. –  “World of Outlaws Sprint Car Racing” with host Johnny Gibson (WoO); with special guest Shane Carson, and more


Thursday, August 13:


11 a.m.  – “International Sprint Car Racing” with host Jon Evans (Oval Express); with special guests David Mills, Matthew Reed, and more


1 p.m. –  “Knoxville Regulars:  Defending the Home Turf” with host Bill Wright (Knoxville Raceway); with special guests Johnny Herrera, Mark Dobmeier, Billy Alley, Skip Jackson, Bronson Maeschen, Davey Heskin, and more


3 p.m. – “Women in Sprint Car Racing” with host Stacy Ervin (Knoxville Raceway); with special guests Erin Crocker, Stevie Kinser, Mandy Ward Pittman, Amy Richert Tatnell, Erin Berkenpas Johnson, Jeannie Butler, and more

Hundreds of Saber faithful also made the trip. The team hopes to have strong attendance again for the semi-final game on Thursday, July 31, at 2 p.m.
