Heat affects sports plans

Knoxville — The heat and humidity have caused athletic events in Marion County to be altered.

The excessive heat wave forced cancellation of Knoxville’s home opening cross country meet earlier in the week, on Monday.

The Knoxville 9th grade football game slated for Friday at 4:45 at home against PCM will now be held Thursday, Aug. 29, starting at 7:30 p.m.

The KHS vs. PCM varsity game is still slated for a 7:30 p.m. start Friday night.

Over at Melcher-Dallas, the Saints' varsity district game against the Twin Cedars Sabers will be shifted from a 7 p.m. start to 8 p.m. Friday evening to alleviate some of the heat.
