2013 Soccer games to be played at Ken Locke

Knoxville —

For this year only, it should be noted that all the Knoxville High School soccer home matches will be played at Ken Locke Memorial Stadium.

“The infield at the track didn’t allow for the growth of good grass  this year,” stated Knoxville Athletic Director Randy Wilson.

Wilson stressed that this is only a one year move of having the JV and varsity soccer matches played at the football stadium.

Soccer games in 2014 will return to the regular site inside the Randy Wilson Track.

Knoxville has two JV/Varsity boys’ home matches slated for next week, April 8 against the Chariton Chargers and April 9 with the Oskaloosa Indians.

Both matches will start with JV contests starting at 5:30 and the varsity to follow.

The varsity and JV girls’ soccer opener at home is set for April 12 at 5:30 p.m. against Nodaway Valley.

“It would be nice if it, the field, was wider. With the field sitting down in the stadium, it will help take the wind out of play. It’s a beautiful facility. It’s a rare opportunity for our guys to play in a cool facility,” replied Coach Dylan Mick. Mick is the coach of the varsity boys’ soccer team.
