---- — Knoxville raced at the Oskaloosa Invitational Tuesday, Sept. 17.

A light drizzle opened the night at the Oskaloosa Cross Country Invitational, but by the time the varsity teams took to the course, everything was just right for running.

The Panthers continued to show some tremendous progress on the course.

The KHS varsity boys’ team finished in fifth place with 115 points. Williamsburg won the team title with 46 points followed by Oskaloosa with 54.

The boys team was lead by sophomore, Mitchell Hollingshead who finished 20th and ran an 18:44. Freshman Cade McNeill was the second finisher for the Panthers who finished 21st and ran an 18:45.

Preston Lee ran an 18:46 and Brad Shearer ran an 18:47 for Knoxville.

“Our seniors got out quick and lead the team through the first half of the race and our younger runners charged to the finish line. We are improving right on schedule and as we approach the Championship portion of our season we will be prepared to peak,” stated Panther head coach Mike Moats.

Knoxville didn’t have enough girls competing to post a team score.

Running for the KHS varsity girls squad were Courtney Hughs in 18th place at 17:28, Kaeline Schuenke 39th at 18:53 and Tori Johnston in 49th at 19:36.
