Pleasantville volleyball team picks up two Pride of Iowa Confererence wins

The Pleasantville volleyball team traveled to Truro for a Pride of Iowa Conference triangular on Monday, Sept. 16. The Trojans split a pair of matches with Mount Ayr and Interstate 35.

Pleasantville downed Mount Ayr 2-0 by scores of 25-17 and 25-14. Augusta Sinclair led the Trojans with 13 kills, 11 digs, and was 16-16 serving, with nine aces. Kennedy Core and Konner Heaberlin added six and five kills respectively. Alli Friday handed out 22 assists.

The Trojans dropped a three-game match to I-35, 2-1. Pleasantville won the first game 25-22. The Roadrunners came back to win the next two games 25-20 and 15-12.

Sinclair once again led the way. She registered 14 kills and 16 digs. Core added 7 kills, 17 digs, and was 12-15 serving, with one ace. Heaberlin totaled seven digs and was 11-12 serving, with three aces. Friday was credited with 23 assists. She finished 11-12 at the serve line.

Pleasantville traveled to Corydon on Tuesday, Sept. 17, for a POI showdown with the Wayne Falcons. Pleasantville swept the Falcons 3-0. The Trojans won the match by scores of 25-16, 25-16, and 25-21.

Sinclair recorded 17 kills, eight digs, and was 17-18 serving, with three aces. Core finished the night with six kills and eight digs. Heaberlin was credited with six kills, and five digs. Friday had 27 assists, five digs, and was 14-14 serving, with four aces. Hayley Rankin had a team high 10 digs and was 17-18 serving, with one ace.

Pleasantville is now 9-7 overall and 3-3 in the Pride of Iowa Conference. The Trojans are scheduled to return to Truro for a match with Interstate-35 on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
