Senior Olympics fields area slowpitch softball players

---- — Sonny Spaur, Fred Bankus and Norm Robinson all played on an Iowa Senior Olympic Slowpitch Softball Team age 75 and above at the national tournament in Cleveland, Ohio.

Spaur, a pitcher from Bussey, helped the Iowa team win three games. Bankus, from Pella, played in the outfield, while Robinson, of Knoxville, played in the infield.

The team played a total of six games at the tournament held in July.

In mid-August, Robinson played on a Minnesota Senior Team at the Players Association Tournament held in Columbus, Ohio.

Bankus played on the Kansas City Antiques team at the Players Association Tourney. The Antiques finished in second place, while the team Robinson was on had a top five finish.
