Trojans win PoI Baseball Championship

Pleasantville — The Pleasantville baseball team wrapped up conference play with wins over Mount Ayr and Corning in the past week. With the wins comes the Pride of Iowa Conference title. Pleasantville’s only other Pride of Iowa baseball title was in 2006, also under the tutelage of coach Sheldon Card.

Pleasantville 15-Mount Ayr 0

Pleasantville downed Mount Ayr 15-0 in four innings, when they hosted the Raiders on Friday, July 5. The Trojans scored six runs in the first inning, two in the second, five in the third inning, and two more in the fourth. 

Offensively, Zeb Adreon was 3-4, with a double and two RBI. Matt Prill was 3-3 with two RBI. Patrick Sheehey was 1-4, with a triple and two RBI. Nate Sowers was 1-3 with two RBI. Brock Busick and Jesse Nichols each had one hit and one RBI.

Josh Luna picked up the win on the mound. He only allowed two hits and two walks. Luna struck out seven.

Pleasantville 11-Corning 0

Pleasantville and Corning were scoreless until the fourth inning. The Trojans broke through and scored four runs in each the fourth and fifth innings. They added three more runs in the bottom of the sixth to end the game. 

Busick led the Pleasantville offense going 3-4, with two RBI and three runs scored. Krichau was 2-4, with three RBI and two runs scored. Luna was 2-2 and also scored three times. Kirk Wicks was 2-2, with one RBI. Prill and Sowers each had one hit and one RBI. Adreon also had a hit.

Riley Krichau pitched the six-inning affair. He allowed two hits and three walks. Krichau struck out 10 Red Raiders. 

Pleasantville finishes 15-1 in the Pride of Iowa Conference.  The Trojans are 19-11 overall (as of July 8).

Pleasantville will open district play on Tuesday, July 16, when they host Wayne of Corydon.
