TC evens the score with M-D

Bussey —

The Twin Cedars softball team turned the tables on Melcher-Dallas when the two teams met Thursday, June 14. The Saints beat Twin Cedars 7-6 back on May 24. This time it was the Sabers who escaped with the one run victory. T-C had a three-run third inning that propelled them to a 4-3 win over the Saints.

The Sabers scored one run in the top of the first. M-D scored two in the bottom half of the inning to grab a 2-1 lead. T-C scored three times in the third to go up 4-2. M-D scored once in the sixth to pull within one run at 4-3. The Saints had the tying run on third base in the bottom of the seventh, but the Sabers used some good defense to get out of the inning with the win.

Mackenzie Sedlock picked up the win for the Sabers. She pitched all seven innings. Sedlock gave up three earned runs, on eight hits and two walks. She struck out three.

Lexi Crozier took the loss for the Saints. She only gave up four hits and two walks. Crozier struck out five T-C batters. The M-D defense committed several errors that led to the Saber scores.

Brooke Dunkin and Brittney Roby each had two hits for T-C. Dunkin scored twice. Bailey Stone had the team’s lone RBI.

Crozier had two hits for the Saints. Madyson Riebhoff, Morgan Mitchell, MacKenzie Suntken, Amanda Marlin, Kaylee Houston, and Maddie Roland each had one hit. Suntken and Marlin each had an RBI.
