---- — Pella will host one of five Class 3A State Qualifying Cross Country Meets Thursday, Oct. 24.
The top three teams and top 10 individuals all earn trips to the prestigious state meet Saturday, Nov. 2 in Fort Dodge.
Knoxville will be one of those teams chasing down a dream to compete at the state meet.
Other teams that have been assigned to run in the Pella State Qualifying Meet in addition to Coach Mike Moats’ Panthers include the following: Bondurant-Farrar, Carlisle, Centerville, Chariton, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Grinnell, Keokuk, Nevada, Oskaloosa, Pella and Williamsburg.
The meet will be for both varsity girls teams over a 4K course and the varsity boys with a 5K distance.
The meet will be held at the Central College campus, site of the Pella Invitational earlier in the year. The start time has been set at 4 p.m.
The Pleasantville Trojans and the Twin Cedars Sabers will run at the 1A State Qualifying Meet set for Wildwood Park in Ottumwa.
The meet in Ottumwa is slated to also start at 4 p.m.
The Twin Cedars Sabers are coached by Alan Stewart while the Trojans’ head coach is Aaron Fichter.
