Hunter Embray signed a letter-of-intent to attend Marshalltown Community College to play baseball for the Tigers.

Hunter is the son of LaTisha and the late Darrin Embray of rural Knoxville.

He plays catcher for the Twin Cedars Sabers. The Sabers posted a final mark of 36 wins against just three losses last summer. The Sabers have won three conference titles since Hunter has been up with the varsity baseball team.

In addition to being a top notch defensive catcher with a strong arm, Hunter hit over .400 for the team.

He considered playing baseball and attending Southwestern Community College, Iowa Western and Des Moines Area Community College in addition to Marshalltown.

“I chose Marshalltown because I felt it was a better fit for me. Their players are dedicated and they have an awesome coaching staff,” Hunter replied.

Hunter wants to study sports marketing in college.

On hand for the signing ceremonies at the school Wednesday, Jan. 15 were his mom, brother, his two grandmas and his uncle. Also on hand was Marshalltown assistant baseball coach Chris Beall.

“I was excited and nervous at the same time when I signed for college. I’m excited to be starting a new chapter in my life with a new team and to learn more,” Hunter said.

He added, “Twin Cedars has been a good experience. I’ll miss my coaches and some of my teachers when I move on.”

In closing Hunter stated, “When my dad passed away three years ago it inspired me. Signing for college has helped me fulfill my mother and father’s dreams of me making it to college.”
