New District Football Pairings

New districts have been formed for high school football teams from around the state. The district assignments set by the Iowa High School Athletic Association will be in effect for this fall and again in 2015.

Class 3A

Knoxville and Pella have each been assigned to Class 3A District 7.

Other teams in the district include Carlisle, Chariton, Norwalk, Oskaloosa and Saydel.

Saydel is the only new team in the district compared to the last two seasons when Winterset was in the district.

Class 1A

Pella Christian has been shifted to Class 1A District 6.

It is a brand new district for the Eagles who are paired with Columbus Junction, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Highland Riverside, Iowa City Regina, Sigourney-Keota and West Marshall.

Iowa City Regina currently has the longest winning streak in the entire state and they are the defending state champions.

West Marshall and Columbus Junction each are dropping down from Class 2A to 1A.

Class A

The Pleasantville Trojans have been assigned to Class A District 8 for the next two seasons.

The district includes Bedford, Clarinda Academy, Earlham, Martensdale’s-St. Mary’s, Mount Ayr, Nodaway Valley and S.E. Warren.

Only S.E. Warren was in the district with the Trojans the last two years.

8-Man

Twin Cedars and Melcher-Dallas will be in 8-Man District 6 for the 2014 and 2015 campaigns.

Wayne, Moravia and Seymour remain in the district with TC and M-D from the past two seasons.

New district opponents in district 6 include Mormon Trail, Harmony of Farmington and Lamoni.

It will still be several weeks before actual playing dates have been set by the state as non-district games will also be assigned in that time period.

A complete football schedule for the next two years will be released sometime in February.
