Marion County — Knoxville has hired a new head football coach and Twin Cedars has hired a new Athletic Director.
At Monday's regular Knoxville School Board meeting, Eric Kellar was hired as the new head football coach and as a physical education teacher. According to information provided to the board, Kellar has a BS in Physical Education and an MS in Learning Disabilities, both from Northwest Missouri State. He is currently a PE teacher in Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, the EBF Head Football Coach and EBF Head Track Coach.
Knoxville also approved coaching contracts for:
• Robby Wilder, KMS Cross Country.
• Michael Splavec, KHS Cross Country, pending completion of a coaching license.
• Joe Cunningham, KHS Varsity Boys' Track Head Coach.
The board also accepted the resignations of Roger Timm, eighth grade girls' track coach, pending employment of a suitable replacement and Melinda Miller, assistant cross country coach.
Meanwhile, on April 22, Twin Cedars hired Matt Miller as Athletic Director. Miller is currently the head baseball coach and joined Twin Cedars in 2010. He replaces Brian Vandersluis, who has served as interim AD since Justin Nolte's move to Melcher-Dallas early in the current school year.
