Sabers fall in BG Conference quarterfinals

The Twin Cedars volleyball team was sent to Murray for the quarterfinal round of the Bluegrass Conference Volleyball Tournament. The Sabers were in a pool with Murray and Moulton-Udell.

The Murray Mustangs was the top-seeded team in the pool. The Sabers defeated Moulton-Udell, but couldn’t get past Murray. The Mustangs advanced to the BGC semi-finals, along with Melcher-Dallas, Lamoni, and eventual champion Grandview Park Baptist.

Twin Cedars 2- Moulton-Udell 0

The Sabers downed Moulton-Udell 2-0. Twin Cedars won the match by scores of 25-11 and 25-15.

Baylee Zellmer led the offensive charge for the Sabers. She had six kills.

Samantha Hammann recorded five kills. Allie Utterback was credited with four kills. Shelby DenBurger and Bailey Stone were team leaders in assists with 10 and seven respectively.

Brittney Roby led the team in digs with 11. Hammann had eight digs. Roby was the top server going 14-14, with two aces. Elizabeth Rowley was 8-9 serving, with one ace. Zellmer and Hammann were both 7-7 serving. Zellmer added a pair of aces. Hammann had one ace.

Twin Cedars 0- Murray 2

Murray blanked Twin Cedars 2-0. The Mustangs have been a top 10 team in Class 1A all season. Murray won the match by scores of 25-10 and 25-20.

Hammann was tops in kills, with four. Stone recorded six assists. DenBurger totaled five assists. Roby was the team leader in digs, with 10. Hammann had six digs. Roby was tops at the serve line going 9-9, with one ace.

Twin Cedars is now 9-9 on the season.
