Knoxville —

The Knoxville Panther varsity football team will hold a scrimmage Friday, Aug. 17, starting at 6 p.m.

Panther Coach Troy Rider replied, “We’ll run a limited number of plays and we should be done by no later than 7:30 p.m.”

Price of admission into the scrimmage is a bottle of Gatorade.

Rider reports that the Booster Club will be offering a meal at the game.

The scrimmage will be for Panther football players in grades nine through the varsity.

The Knoxville Drill Team is slated to hit the field at 5:55 to perform.

Root Beer Floats will be available at the scrimmage for $1.

According to the Panther coach slightly over 40 players have reported to practice for the season. The freshman class has around 30 players in addition to the varsity numbers listed above.

Knoxville is slated to open the 2012 season on the road as they travel to Monroe to face the PCM Mustangs in a freshman/varsity doubleheader. The freshman game is slated to start at 5 p.m.

A preview on the Knoxville Panthers is slated to run in next week’s (Aug. 24) newspaper.

Knoxville’s home opener is slated for Friday, Aug. 31, as they face the Newton Cardinals in a non-district game at Ken Locke Memorial Stadium.
