Promise City to host Corn Growers event

Iowa Corn Growers Association

This winter’s Promise City crop fair has a program designed to help local growers deal with the volatility in modern agriculture, according to organizers with the Iowa Corn Growers Association (ICGA) and Iowa Corn Promotion Board (ICPB).  The program will be Jan.28 at the Promise City Community Center from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with PPAT (Private Pesticide Applicators Training) following the crop fair.

Featured presentations include “Farm Energy Check Up” by David Stineman, Consumers Energy; “Tile Drainage on Southern Iowa Soils,” by Greg Brenneman, ISU Extension Agricultural Engineer; and “Ear Molds and Mycotoxins,” by Alison Robertson, ISU Extension Pathologist.

“With today’s market volatility and quality issues this year, it is important to have up-to-date information,” says Janelle Kracht, ICGA/ICPB grower service representative.  “The Promise City program should give local growers access to information that can really help their bottom line.”

Attendance at the crop fair is free and includes dinner. Sponsors of the crop fair include: Farmers Bank of Northern Missouri, N.A., Agriland FS Inc. of Humeston, the Iowa Corn Growers Association, and the Iowa Corn Promotion Board.

To reserve a seat by Jan. 25 or for questions please contact ISU Extension Region 19 by calling 641-777-4354.
