DES MOINES — Dancers from Knoxville and Pleasantville brought home top honors last weekend at the Iowa State Dance and Drill Team competition.

Knoxville took home first place in the class II lyrical performance. Pleasantville was first in class I color guard.

Those schools joined other Melcher-Dallas, PCM and Twin Cedars as area schools competing at the competition between Dec. 1-2 at Hy-Vee Hall in Des Moines.

Highlights for the Knoxville team include division I ratings in hip hop, lyrical, pom and show production. Pleasantville earned division I ratings in color guard, jazz and pom.

Besides their state title in lyrical, Knoxville placed second in show production and tied for fourth in class X pom. Pleasantville was tied for fourth in pom o go along with their state title in color guard.

PCM, Monroe took second in class VIII pom. They had division one ratings there as well as hip hop and jazz.

Twin Cedars earned division I ratings in hip hop and pom and a division II in prop.

Melcher-Dallas earned a division I in pom.
