Local author Kathleen Bacus has released her eighth book in her Calamity Jayne series this summer titled “Calamity Jayne and the Sisterhood of the Traveling Lawn Gnome.” Bacus plans to continue writing the Calamity Jayne series indefinitely.
The eighth book picks up on recurring themes, like a propensity for the main character to get into trouble, having bad luck and credibility issues. Tressa “Calamity” Jayne Turner, the main character, also has blonde hair, so the book begins and ends with a blonde joke.
“It's only been a year-and-a-half that the eight books cover. In this particular one, there is a small-town theme,” Bacus said. “You have landmarks that may or may not be associated with the Marion County area.”
