The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved plans to provide Health Savings Accounts to county employees at their meeting on June 11.
The board approved Marion County bank as the official HSA vendor. Beginning January 1, the county will deposit $375 into HSA accounts for employees who choose to enroll in the program. This will serve as a way to seed accounts between the months of January and March. Following March, $125 will be deposited into the accounts each month for the remainder of the year.
The program will begin January 1, 2020, with informational meetings taking place in the months leading up to the launch. The county is hoping for an enrollment rate of 10 percent for the program’s first year.
The board also approved a 4 percent salary increase for county engineer Tyler Christian, as well as budget expense appropriations for the County Attorney, IT Department and Mental Health.
