A water main break late Wednesday afternoon in Pleasantville has led to a boil order.
The City of Pleasantville shut the water off in response. Water service has since been repaired, as has the break.
To ensure that contaminents are out of the water, residents are encouraged to boil their water. Cory Frank with Marion County Environmental Health also suggests residents turn off their refrigerator ice making machines during the order. When the Department of Natural Resources gives an all-clear, Frank advises that residents then dump the first few loads of ice produced by their ice makers.
Pregnant women are also advised to drink bottled water during this time.
Pleasantville Schools are closed today, in response to the water emergency. Proper hygiene might not have been possible today at the schools because of the situation.
