Sen. Paul McKinley.

Sen. Paul McKinley is "aggressively exploring" a run for Iowa's governorship. McKinley, as Senate Minority Leader, has been traveling throughout the state. What he has found is that Iowans are unhappy with the current condition of the state, with its spending and growing government.

Through his work as leader, and his travels, people encouraged him to consider seeking the Republican nomination for governor. He announced Tuesday that he is exploring that option.

In an interview with the Journal-Express, he said his vision for Iowa is preparing the state for the global economy and giving Iowa's government back to the people.

McKinley sat down with us for a full interview last week. The article can be read in the July 3 Journal-Express. Look for local reaction and more on his decision to explore a gubernatorial run in the July 10 Journal-Express.
