ATTICA — The Marion County Sheriff's Office says two were injured in Tuesday night's blaze south of Attica.
The office received multiple reports of a fire at Lambirth Enterprises. Witnesses reported hearing an explosion and then seeing flames coming from the building.
A press release from the office said reports indicated that a person was trapped inside the building, but were able to get out of the building just before deputies arrived.
The two injured were taken by ground ambulance to local hospitals. One was taken to Knoxville Hospital and then taken to the University of Iowa Hospital burn unit where they are listed in stable condition.
The other injured person was taken to Pella Hospital and was later released.
Several crews from around Marion County responded to the blaze. Crews temporarily shut down Highway G76 south of Attica to traffic.
The blaze was reported just after 8 p.m. Tuesday. The fire is still under investigation by the sheriff's office and the Iowa State Fire Marshall's Office.
Agencies responding to the blaze included Indiana Township Fire Department, Knoxville Township Fire Department, Columbia Fire Department, Bussey Fire and Rescue, Melcher Fire Department, Pella Fire Department, Knoxville Rescue, and the Marion County Sheriff's Office.
