Marion County residents enjoyed the holiday season during the Marion County Historical Society’s Festival of Trees on Nov. 23 and 24.
Businesses and organizations from across the county decorated Christmas trees that were displayed at Marion County Park. Each tree had a bucket beside it, where visitors could place money to vote for their favorite. Proceeds of the event will be used to fund the renovation and expansion of the Machine Shed at the park.
There were also four fully decorated trees available in a silent auction. The trees were donated by Shear Design, The Well, Knoxville Vet Clinic and Iowa State Extension 4-H County Council.
Festival of Trees also featured various entertainment, including the Knoxville Community Chorus, NorthStar Elementary fifth graders, Folk Group Friends, rug branding demonstrations by Helen Boertje, knitting demonstrations by Kendra Randol and spinning demonstrations by Janice Cook.
