A Hamilton man was charged Friday with felony theft after law enforcement said he stole a trailer and tool box from a rural Knoxville home.

Jeremy Wade Johnson, 41, of Hamilton, was charged with second-degree theft, a class D felony.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said between 8 a.m. Nov. 13 and 10 a.m. Nov 14 Johnson stole a trailer valued at $1,500 and a toolbox valued at $100.

On the evening of Nov. 14 police were called back to the address at 1247 Illinois Drive for a suspicious vehicle on the property. Police said they found Johnson in that vehicle, who admitted to taking the items.
