Local fire crews were called Friday for a reported garage fire in Knoxville.

The Knoxville Fire Department was dispatched to the 1400 block of N. Roche for a structure fire on July 26 at 12:16 p.m. Knoxville Fire Department responded with two engines, two ambulances and a command car with 11 personnel.

When the department arrived, there was fire and smoke coming from a garage. The fire was contained to the garage.

KFD crews made entry into the structure to extinguish the fire. Fire crews also conducted overhaul by pulling ceiling and working to clear items in the garage.

The fire started in the garage in the area where the lawnmower was parked. The fire caused approximately $65,000 in damage. The garage and contents are considered a total loss.

Knoxville Fire Department was assisted on scene by Knoxville Police Department, Knoxville Township Fire Department, Marion County EMA, Alliant and Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
