The Knoxville School Board approved a resolution approving a revenue purpose statement at their regular scheduled meeting on Sept. 9.

The approved revenue purpose statement serves as an extension of State Secure an Advanced Vision for Eduction (SAVE) Fund. It is not expanding on the use of the funds, but rather extends the time in which the funds are allowed to be used.

Along with the revenue purpose statement, the approved resolution included ordering an election to authorize expenditures from the funding given through the revenue purpose statement, as well as ordering a publication of notice of an election. The goal is to have this item on the ballot for the Nov. 5 election.

The school district is able to direct the funds toward a variety of uses, including acquiring or installing information technology or school safety and security infrastructure, building and furnishing new school buildings, additions, or remodeling of school building, and the purchase lease or lease-purchase of buildings, equipment or technology.

The schools district will work with the Marion County Auditor regarding the election aspect of this approved resolution.

The school board also discussed dates for upcoming board meetings. They approved setting the meeting dates on Oct. 14 and Oct. 21, which are the second and third Mondays of the month.
