The Knoxville School Board approved two new hires and one resignation at a special meeting held on July 22.
The board approved the hiring of Nicholas Payton, who will work as the Intervention Strategist for the district, a new position for the 2019-2020 school year. Payton received his Bachelor’s of Social Work from Dordt College in 2017 and completed his Master’s of Social Work at Campbellsville University in Kentucky in 2018.
“We were super impressed,” said board Member Larissa Van Donselaar, who assisted with the interviewing process. “He is a really dynamic young man. We are excited to invite him to be part of the district.”
In addition to approving Payton’s hiring and contract, the board also approved reimbursement for relocation and moving expenses of up to $5,000 for Payton.
The board approved the hiring of Jeff Larson as an Assistant 7th Grade Football Coach. They also accepted the resignation of Matt Ritchhart from the 9th Grade Basketball Coach position.
The next regularly scheduled school board meeting is set for August 12.
