A new reporter has joined the Knoxville Journal-Express, with her first bylines coming in the June 6 edition of the newspaper.
Emma Skahill, a native of Earlham, Iowa, joined the Journal-Express staff on May 30. She graduated Van Meter High School in 2015 and is a 2019 graduate of Central College, where she studied communications and writing.
Skahill will be based in the Knoxville office and plans to move to the community.
"I am very excited to be working at the Journal-Express and to become a part of the Knoxville community," Skahill said. "I'm looking forward to discovering all that Knoxville has to offer and getting to meet members of the community at different events around town."
She will report on news and feature stories in communities around Marion County. Skahill joins Emily Hawk, based in the Pella Chronicle office, as reporters for the twin Marion County weeklies.
"We're very excited to have a native central Iowan on our news team in Knoxville," Regional Editor Kyle Ocker said. "Emma has shown a great love for the stories of Marion County and its people, and we think she will be a great fit both to our news team and the community of Knoxville."
"With our newsroom positions between the Knoxville Journal-Express and Pella Chronicle now filled, we're excited to continue to grow our products further in both markets," Ocker continued. "We appreciate the patience of our readership during a transition period for our newspapers."
Skahill can be reached at email@example.com or by calling the Knoxville Journal-Express newsroom at 641-842-2155.
