The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Marion County, beginning at 3 p.m. and lasting until 6 p.m. Saturday. During that period, 6 to 10 inches of snow are expected, as well as ice accumulations.

Additionally, the city of Knoxville has put a snow ordinance into effect, beginning at 7 p.m. Friday. It will stay in effect until the storm passes and streets are plowed curb to curb.

During the ordinance, parking is not permitted city streets. Any vehicles parked on city streets will be subject to ticketing and/or towing.

Today’s evening commute and drive time may be impacted, especially in central and southwest Iowa. Brisk winds will produce blowing snow and reduced visibilities.
