Our Representative John Thorup deserves a lot of credit for his leadership as a new member of the Iowa House. Instead of just following the pack, he is making his own decisions and standing up for what he thinks is best for Knoxville, Marion County and all of Iowa.
Case in point he is standing up to MidAmerican and standing with farmers, small businesses, churches, schools, cities, and homeowners who want to install solar. It's especially important because the City of Knoxville and Knoxville schools are in the process of installing solar projects that depend on net metering, which is what MidAmerican is trying to do away with. Thank you Rep. Thorup for opposing the Sunshine Tax and working across the aisle to defend Iowa's leadership position in renewable energy and the 800 jobs in the solar installation industry.
